BELGRADE DENIES U.S. LEASED MILITARY BASES IN YUGOSLAVIA

BELGRADE, Jan 16 (Hina) - Yugoslav Foreign Minister Goran Svilanovic on Thursday refuted a Radio France International (RFI) news to the effect that the U.S. administration had asked Belgrade's authorities to lease several military bases in Yugoslavia for a period of 99 years. #L# "That information is incorrect," said Svilanovic, assessing the United States had no reason to need a base on Yugoslav territory. RFI recently said the U.S. was interested in the base of its Kosovo Force contingent Bondsteel in Kosovo, the Yugoslav army's radar base on Kopaonik, the military airport near Sjenica and facilities on Pesetar Plain.
