Papandreou said that during the six months of Greece's presidency
of the EU, the southeast part of Europe will be a priority and that
representatives of all five countries he would visit during his
Southeast European tour (Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina,
Yugoslavia, Macedonia and Albania) would be invited to attend the
EU Summit in Salonika in June.
The Greek official said the European Union was aware that Serbia and
Montenegro were making steps towards a Stabilisation and
Association Agreement. He said it was important to implement EU
standards regarding the respect for human rights and the rights of
minorities, as well as regional cooperation.
After talks with Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic,
Papandreou said it was necessary to take all measures to adopt the
Serbia-Montenegro constitutional charter and supporting laws.
The Greek diplomat will also meet his Yugoslav counterpart Goran
Svilanovic and head of state Vojislav Kostunica.
