ZAGREB, Jan 15 (Hina) - According to first information on a general
strike of doctors, which started in Croatian hospitals on Wednesday
morning, most doctors are working, although they support the
strike. #L#
Croatian Doctors Union (HLS) leader Ivica Babic told Hina that
hospital doctors were acting in line with union recommendations,
which meant that their scope of activities was reduced and that they
supported the strike by displaying union badges.
Danijel Mrazovac, the HLS commissioner in the largest Croatian
health institution, the Zagreb Clinic, said that all 600 hospital
doctors were working this morning.
Mrazovac said the staff would continue working during the first two
days of the strike, after which they would join in the action.
Doctors in two other Zagreb hospitals, the Sisters of Mercy clinic
and the clinic for cancer treatment, are working normally.
Although doctors in primary health care are not on strike because
most GPs and dentists did not support the strike, some community
health centres are on strike.
