the LS head committee concluded at Saturday's session. #L#
The party also advocates basing the new election law on the equal
number of MPs -- 140 -- diaspora representation on the non-fixed
quota principle, the positive discrimination of national
minorities -- two votes -- and the transparent financing of
political parties.
Also today, the LS head committee supported the political
orientation the party has had so far, bids to reinforce and enable
the LS to run in the next ballots independently, and creating a
strong liberal alternative.
The head committee applauded the fact that Zlatko Kramaric, Bozo
Kovacevic, and Ivo Banac are the party's presidential candidates,
as well as the significant number of candidates for membership of
the LS presidency.
This is evidence of the party's high personnel potential, the
democratic relations within the party, and of the credibility of
the liberal option, the committee concluded.
The LS also advocated having the incumbent coalition government
complete its term over the next year and using this time to keep the
promises made during the 2000 elections by acknowledging the
programmes of all coalition parties.
