Once the strike is over, the union will analyse its effects and
probably start preparations for a general strike in schools, Kuba
said.
Kuba appealed to citizens to support the strike, adding that the
government was responsible for its organisation. Employees in
primary schools do not receive payment for extra hours and work with
children with special needs or transport bonuses, Kuba said, adding
that non-teaching staff was especially underprivileged.
The union leader believes that the government can secure an
additional 80 million kuna for an increase in the salaries of non-
teaching staff and that this would not burden tax-payers.
