Letica, accompanied by HSP leaders, called on the government to open negotiations with the European Union as soon as possible on increasing annual quotas for the export of steel tubes to EU countries from the present 25,000 tonnes to 125,000 tonnes.
Letica spoke of the social and economic consequences of the crisis in the ironworks and presented his view of the factory's development over the next five years. He pointed out that Sisak Ironworks and its iron and steel production were the country's strategic interests.
The HSP presidential candidate also called on the government to merge the Sisak and Split ironworks in order to ensure the survival of both factories and the competitiveness of the iron and steel industry in Croatia in relation to the EU.
