ZAGREB, Dec 14 (Hina) - The Croatian Pensioners' Party (HSU) leader, Vladimir Jordan, on Tuesday reported to the police that he had received a letter with death threats unless the HSU discontinued its cooperation with the ruling Croatian Democratic Union and the government by the end of this year.

The letter, whose author is unknown, includes death threats against Jordan, his family and three HSU members of parliament if that party fails to stop cooperating with the HDZ and the Ivo Sanader Cabinet before the end of this year.

"The letter with my home address to be sent to was left in the mail box of the HSU party three days ago," Jordan told Hina today.

He delivered the letter to the police. Asked whether he would ask for tighter security for him and his family, Jordan said that it was up to the police to decide.

He believes that this is part of an orchestrated campaign against him and the HSU.

The spokeswoman for the Zagreb police, Gordana Vulama, confirmed that Jordan had reported the death threats.

After interviewing Jordan, police are going to investigate the entire case and collect relevant information, Vulama said, adding that after that the police leadership would decide whether Jordan, his family and the three HSU MPs should be given police protection.
