ZAGREB, Nov 30 (Hina) - Croatia received the majority of funds from theEU CARDS programme, earmarked for the information and communicationssystem which enables a 24-hour connection with Interpol's data base,which is important for the
struggle against crime, it was said at aseminar organised by Zagreb's Interpol office on Tuesday.

the EU CARDS programme, earmarked for the information and communications system
which enables a 24-hour connection with Interpol's data base, which is
important for the struggle against crime, it was said at a seminar organised by
Zagreb's Interpol office on Tuesday.The EU-sponsored project is worth EUR1.4 million, most of which was
given to Croatia, while lower funds were given to Albania, Serbia and
Montenegro, Macedonia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Croatia was given EUR159,000 for equipment and EUR12,600 for the
training of 50 police officers.
A senior Interpol official, Jean-Michel Louboutain, said that Interpol
planned to connect all 182 of its member countries with the new system. So far,
the system has been implemented in 30 countries.
