The wreaths were laid by his widow Ankica and other members of his family, by the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) presidency led by its president and Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, Sabor Speaker Vladimir Seks with a parliamentary delegation, delegations of war veterans, political parties, associations, representatives of counties and cities as well as presidential candidates.
Also today, Deputy Prime Minister Andrija Hebrang bestowed the Homeland Defence War Hero award on Tudjman's widow Ankica at a ceremony organised in Zagreb's Croatian National Theatre (HNK),
The award is given by the association of the war veterans, disabled veterans and widows called Podravka.
At the ceremony, Hebrang said that the award was the evidence of the inseparable connection between war veterans and Franjo Tudjman. He urged the present at the ceremony to fight for the truth about the Homeland Defence War and about the role of the first Croatian president in the establishment of the independent Republic of Croatia.
