ZAGREB, Dec 8 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, acting in hiscapacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has ordered theArmed Forces Chief of Staff, General Josip Lucic, to take all thenecessary steps to establish the
veracity of allegations of sexualharassment or abuse in the Armed Forces, according to a statementissued by the President's Office on Wednesday.
ZAGREB, Dec 8 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, acting in
his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has ordered the Armed
Forces Chief of Staff, General Josip Lucic, to take all the necessary steps to
establish the veracity of allegations of sexual harassment or abuse in the
Armed Forces, according to a statement issued by the President's Office on
Wednesday.The order followed frequent media reports portraying the Croatian Armed
Forces "as an environment where acts against personal freedom and dignity
occur, particularly those relating to possible sexual harassment or abuse," the
statement said.
The order has taken immediate effect and has been forwarded to the
Defence Minister, who will be responsible for its implementation, the statement
said.
