CROATIA'S COOPERATION WITH TRIBUNAL CONDITION FOR PROGRESS TO E.U. MEMBERSHIP

ZAGREB, Nov 24 (Hina) - The European Commission said on Wednesday thatcooperation with the Hague war crimes tribunal was the necessaryrequirement for Croatia's progress to membership in the EuropeanUnion, and announced that it would thoroughly analyse a reportsubmitted by the tribunal's chief prosecutor to the UN SecurityCouncil on Tuesday.
ZAGREB, Nov 24 (Hina) - The European Commission said on Wednesday that cooperation with the Hague war crimes tribunal was the necessary requirement for Croatia's progress to membership in the European Union, and announced that it would thoroughly analyse a report submitted by the tribunal's chief prosecutor to the UN Security Council on Tuesday.

As far as Croatia is concerned, I must point out that cooperation with the Hague tribunal is the necessary condition for progress in the pre-accession period and for the process of accession to the European Union, spokeswoman for the EU enlargement commissioner Krisztina Nagy said at a press conference in Brussels.

Before making a specific assessment, the Commission will throughly analyse the report by Carla Del Ponte, Nagy said.
