"Croatia does not yet have to change the regime of entering the country for Bosnian citizens, regardless of its talks on joining the EU. Each country can keep a more flexible regime for its neighbours, even when it is a EU member," the Bosnia-Herzegovina Foreign Ministry said in a statement which was cited by the Sarajevo daily.
The ministry also said it was in Croatia and Bosnia's interest to keep the present regulations which enable the two countries' citizens to cross the state border only with an identification card.
The head of the consular department at the Croatian Embassy in Sarajevo, Romana Franulovic-Busic, said the agreement on crossing the border only with an ID would remain in force until further notice.
The Bosnian Foreign Ministry said Romania and Bulgaria -- EU candidate countries -- decided to introduce a visa regime for Bosnian citizens without any special reason.
In spite of negative experience with the two countries, the daily said Bosnia does not expect the same thing to happen with Turkey -- also an EU candidate country and one of very few countries which Bosnian citizens can enter without visas.
