MOSTAR, Dec 3 (Hina) - The European People's Party (EPP) political
committee decided in Brussels on Friday to grant the status of EPP observers to
three political parties from Bosnia-Herzegovina: the Croatian Democratic Union
(HDZ BiH), the (Muslim) Party of Democratic Action (SDA) and the Party of
Democratic Progress (a leading party in the Serb entity). The joint admission of the three parties, which Croatia's Prime Minister
Ivo Sanader proposed during a recent visit to Mostar, was confirmed today by
the parties' headquarters in Mostar, Sarajevo and Banja Luka.
Observer status is the first step towards full membership in this party
association, which is currently the strongest group in the European Parliament.
The next step is the granting of the status of an associate member. Full
membership is granted only to parties from EU member-countries.
