He held talks with Mayor Zoran Domancic and local residents, who told him Croatia must be economically strong to be politically strong. They complained about the lack of production, saying that production and agriculture were the generators of development.
Mesic agreed, saying that Croatia's prosperity depended on production and exports, which he added would be the joint task of Parliament, the Government and the president of the republic in the future. "We have to draw up an economic development strategy."
Later today the president will visit Starigrad on the island of Hvar, while tomorrow he is due to visit Komiza on the island of Vis.
