The committee concluded the LS was ready to cooperate with every liberal and democratic party because it maintained that an alliance founded on principles of mutual acknowledgement was imperative for the promotion of civil society.
The press release said the LS supported incumbent President Stjepan Mesic's candidacy for another term, and felt the pressure by state authorities on citizens' election monitoring organisation GONG and the civilian sector during the presidential campaign was unacceptable.
The LS said reporter Helena Puljiz's human rights were violated when she was interrogated by the Counterintelligence Agency, and demanded an effective civilian supervision of the work of security services.
The LS objects to the privatisation of public companies at any cost, and urges Prime Minister Ivo Sanader to relieve Foreign Minister Miomir Zuzul of duty.
