Called "Europe. Lovely Idea?", this is the last in a series of conferences at which eminent European scientists and politicians discuss fundamental EU values and what they mean to EU citizens, said Crnic.
The conference pooled more than 200 participants from 25 EU member countries and four candidates -- Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, and Croatia, Crnic said.
She added participants were discussing what it meant to be a European citizen, European culture and education, European values and Europe's future.
Speakers include Dutch Minister for European Affairs Atzo Nicolai, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, and Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende, who will inform the EU heads of state or government about the results of the conference.
The conference was organised by Nexus Institute from Tilburg, an independent nonprofit foundation, and is being held under the auspices of the Dutch Government and the European Commission.
