SLOVENE PARLIAMENT APPROVES NEW GOVT. LED BY JANSA

LJUBLJANA, Dec 3 (Hina) - The Slovene Parliament on Friday eveningapproved the centre-right government of Janez Jansa, the leader of theSlovene Democratic Party (SDS).
LJUBLJANA, Dec 3 (Hina) - The Slovene Parliament on Friday evening approved the centre-right government of Janez Jansa, the leader of the Slovene Democratic Party (SDS).

The coalition government, consisting of Jansa's SDS, another two centre-right parties and the DESUS pensioners' party, won the votes of 51 deputies, while 37 deputies voted against.

Besides deputies from the parties which make up the coalition government -- the SDS, DESUS, the New Slovenia (N.Si) and the Slovene People's Party (SLS), who voted for the government, two deputies representing the Italian and Hungarian minorities, Roberto Batteli and Marija Pozsonec respectively, also supported the government.

Jansa and the minority MPs previously signed an agreement on cooperation in the protection of minorities.

The Jansa cabinet consists of 15 ministers: Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, Economy Minister Andrej Vizjak, Finance Minister Andrej Bajuk, Defence Minister Karl Erjavec, Interior Minister Dragutin Mate, Justice Minister Lovro Sturm, Transport Minister Janez Bozic, Health Minister Andrej Brucan, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Janez Drobnic, Agriculture Minister Marija Lukacic, Environmental Protection Minister Janez Podobnik, Culture Minister Vasko Simoniti, State Administration Minister Gregor Virant, Science, Technology and Tertiary Education Minister Jure Zupan and Education and Sports Minister Milan Zver.
