The Committee demands 269 million kuna for professional firefighters, union representative Mladen Magdic said.
After making a round around the government and parliament buildings with their lights and sirens on, the firefighters distributed leaflets to MPs to inform them of their problems.
The union gave up on staging a bigger rally because Finance Minister Ivan Suker last night promised the amount requested by the union, Magdic said.
However, if the minister fails to confirm the allocation in writing, the union will stage a bigger rally, he added.
The union had announced today's protest last week, after the Finance Ministry changed a bill on fire-fighting reducing budgetary funds for fire-fighting in 2005 by 30 percent.
