ZAGREB, Nov 19 (Hina) - Serbia and Montenegro Defence Minister
Prvoslav Davinic said in Zagreb on Friday the military ship which patrolled the
Danube yesterday, remembrance day for the war-time victims of Vukovar, had not
entered Croatian waters, but expressed regret that the ship was performing
"its normal activities" on that day."The ship's command might have chosen another day given our tragic past,
which raises feelings in people that we mustn't ignore," Davinic said on the
margins of the international conference "NATO After Istanbul - Security in
Southeast Europe".
"If we ignore those feelings, the normalisation of relations will slow
down, which is not in Croatia's interest, and especially not in Serbia and
Montenegro's," he said.
Davinic added the unarmed ship was in charge of illegal crossings of the
state border, which are very frequent in that area.
He said the Serbia and Montenegro army would withdraw from the Danube on
January 1, to be replaced by the police.
