ZAGREB, Nov 18 (Hina) - The Assistant Secretary-General of the North-Atlantic Alliance, Jean Fournet, on Thursday opened NATO's central depositary library for Croatia at Zagreb's Faculty of Political Sciences.

The opening of this library is very important for the dialogue between NATO and Croatia, said Fournet. He added that all books issued by NATO would find their place in Croatia.

Fournet is visiting Zagreb ahead of the international conference "NATO After Istanbul - Security in South-East Europe", which will be held on Friday. The conference will be addressed by President Stjepan Mesic, the national coordinator for NATO, Pjer Simunovic, and the president of the Atlantic Council of Croatia, Radovan Vukadinovic.

Croatian Defence Minister Berislav Roncevic and Macedonian Deputy Defence Minister Rizvan Sulejmani will speak about the problems of countries waiting for NATO membership.

Apart from these officials and NATO representatives, the event will also be attended by Serbia and Montenegro's Defence Minister Prvoslav Davinic and Montenegrin Foreign Minister Miodrag Vlahovic, who will speak about the country's chances of joining Partnership for Peace.

The conference is organised by the Atlantic Council of Croatia in cooperation with NATO's Information and Media Office.

The purpose of the conference is to point to NATO's position and role in contemporary international developments, as well as to the experience of newly admitted countries and expectations of possible NATO members from South-East Europe.
