ZAGREB, Nov 5 (Hina) - The wife of the Croatian foreign minister and
owner of the MTS company, Tatjana Zuzul, said in an interview with the Saturday
edition of the Jutarnji List daily that her husband Miomir Zuzul did not know
about transactions that had taken place between her company and Karin Univerzal
Inzenjering, owned by Ivan Karin.Mrs Zuzul said that a bank clerk had mistakenly entered those
transactions as payments against an invoice rather than as loans, but added
that the most important thing was that the transactions were registered in the
company books as loans.
Explaining the circumstances in which she had done business with Ivan
Karin and giving possible reasons for the Imostroj scandal, she said: "Neither
did I nor did my husband pocket a single kuna."
Mrs Zuzul said that Karin Univerzal had not bought the firm Imostroj,
whose debt had been written off by the government, but its assets during the
bankruptcy proceedings.
