Without Borders on Tuesday issued its third worldwide annual press freedom
index saying that the countries of East Asia and the Middle East have the worst
press records.Of 167 countries covered by the index, Denmark, Finland, Iceland,
Ireland, and the Netherlands have the greatest press freedom.
Slovenia ranked 15th, while the United States ranked 22nd, one place
behind Bosnia-Herzegovina. Croatia ranked 54th, behind Albania, Macedonia,
Botswana, and Nicaragua, while Serbia and Montenegro ranked 77th.
