ZAGREB, Nov 5 (Hina) - If Croatia enters the European Union in 2007, the country can count on four billion kuna from the European Union budget, or only three bullion kuna due to the system of pre-financing, co-financing and absorption power, an economist of the International Monetary Fund, Judita Cuculic, said at a round table discussion on the fiscal aspects of integration with the European Union in Zagreb on Friday.

Cuculic and two economists from the Croatian National Bank (HNB), Michael Faulend and Vedran Sosic, are the authors of an article on fiscal aspects of integration with the EU, published in the book "Croatia's Association with the EU: Challenges of Institutional Adjustments; Volume 2" (unofficial translation), which was published by the Institute for Public Finance and the Friedrich Ebert foundation.

Their analysis shows that Croatia's admission to the EU in 2007 would also mean a net loss of 1.88 billion kuna (i.e. 0.65 percent of GDP) in the state budget in the first year of accession.
