DRAGALIC, Nov 4 (Hina) - Representatives of the Croatian Mine Action Centre (HCR) and officials of the U.S. and Norwegian embassies on Friday visited the eastern Croatian municipality of Dragalic where representatives of a Norwegian nongovernmental organisation are searching 633,220 square metres of area for mines. The project started on 5 October this year.

The entire project is financed with 600,000 dollars donated by the US government through the International Fund for De-mining.

The Norwegian humanitarian NGO has so far been included in six mine removal projects in Croatia and its activities were financed by the Norwegian government with some 44 million kuna from 2001 to 2004.

Some funds for this purpose were ensured by the British and Canadian governments.

The Norwegians are also engaged in a project of informing children about the dangers of mines. The Norwegian Embassy in Zagreb has provided financial support for a campaign to inform children in a primary school in Dragalic about mine dangers.
