PULA, Nov 3 (Hina) - Former Macedonian interior minister Ljube Boskoski has stopped a six-day hunger strike, his defence lawyer Zvonimir Hodak told reporters in the northern Adriatic city of Pula on Wednesday.

Hodak visited his client in the Pula District Prison where he had been detained since August 31 when he was arrested on suspicion of ordering the killing of seven economic immigrants from Pakistan and India in March 2002.

The Hague war crimes tribunal is also interested in Boskoski over his role in clashes between Albanian insurgents and Macedonian security forces three years ago.

Tribunal investigators had announced their visit to Pula from November 8 to 12, but Hodak said Boskoski would not be able to talk to them, citing his client's physical and mental exhaustion. He added that the interview would be postponed for 10 to 15 days.

Boskoski went on hunger strike last week in protest at "a slow investigation that is being conducted against him at the Pula County Court".
