In an interview with Sarajevo's Dnevni Avaz of Sunday, Tankovic was quoted as saying that although SDA party bodies had still not made an official decision, he did not think the party's members and sympathisers would turn their backs on Mesic because they supported him at the last presidential elections four years ago as well.
Tankovic said the SDA's support would give one presidential candidate about 60,000 votes of Bosnian Muslims, Turks, Albanians and Roma.
He went on to say that support to Mesic was not expected to bring into question the SDA's good cooperation with the incumbent Croatian Government, or prevent Prime Minister Ivo Sanader from resolving some important issues concerning Bosnian Muslims, which Tankovic said Sanader pledged to do when the party supported him in Parliament.
Tankovic added the SDA's support to the Ivo Sanader Cabinet would remain unquestionable throughout its term.
