"By not participating in the elections, the Serbs sent a unanimous message arising from their intolerable living conditions. It is necessary for people to enjoy the elementary right to live in order to vote for their political representatives," Kostunica said in a press release on Sunday.
Kostunica said that from the point of view of maintaining the multiethnic character of Kosovo and Metohija Saturday's elections were a failure, and added that Serbia would continue its efforts to ensure "international acceptance and application of institutional guarantees for the survival, normal life and return of Serbs".
Saturday's parliamentary elections in Kosovo, the second since this southern province became a UN protectorate in 1999, were boycotted by the Serbs.
