ZAGREB, Oct 21 (Hina) - The Croatian police processed about 100 people in connection with Internet child pornography between 1996 and 2003, it was said in Zagreb on Thursday at the end of a four-day international seminar on the prevention of this problem.

Croatian Interior Ministry cyber crime expert Ognjen Haramina said the information Croatian police supplied to colleagues abroad about Internet paedophiles had resulted in arrests in 70 percent of the cases.

About 100 police investigators from 10 countries attended the seminar, which was organised by the Croatian Police Directorate, Interpol, and the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children. It was held under Microsoft's auspices.

Haramina said the police wished to trace people supplying or receiving child pornography while they were online, adding this called for introducing special Internet supervision measures in the Law on Criminal Procedure.

He recalled Croatia was among the first countries to adopt and ratify the Convention on Cyber Crime.

The seminar heard that Internet child pornography was one of the biggest global crime issues which grew by the day and was impossible to completely eradicate.
