ZAGREB, Oct 15 (Hina) - The Croatian government will open an international tender for a multipurpose helicopter service, which is expected to be operational along the coast and major motorways next summer.

At a session on Friday, the government adopted a project to organise such a service in Croatia and appointed a commission to coordinate the effort. The project will cost 20 million euros a year.

For this purpose, it is necessary to provide six helicopters which will be on round-the-clock duty at six points with medical, fire-prevention and search teams responsible for transferring injured persons from roads, islands, the sea or the land to the nearest medical centre within 30 minutes.

The Health Ministry is planning to provide four medical teams for each helicopter, whereas the state administration will set up search and rescue teams.

Also, the government authorised Prime Minister Ivo Sanader to sign the Charter on Good Neighbourly Relations, Stability, Security and Cooperation in Southeast Europe, whereby Croatia will become a full member of the Southeast Europe Cooperation Process (SEECP).
