President Mesic said Croatia was progressing well on its path to European associations and stressed that when it came to the economy and democracy, Croatia saw the Czech Republic as its role model.
Svoboda said his country was ready to share its experience and help Croatia on its path to the EU.
He stressed the Czech Republic was aware of how much efforts a country must make to adjust to European standards and expressed conviction Croatia would succeed in doing that, the statement said.
Svoboda also said Croatia had set a very ambitious plan regarding the pace of its joining the EU, but added it could count on the friendly support of the Czech Republic.
The Czech officials also stressed he saw Croatia as a stabilising factor, but also as a role model for other countries in the region.
President Mesic expressed satisfaction with the two countries' intensive contacts at all levels and added that they had no outstanding issues.
