BELGRADE, Oct 13 (Hina) - Serbia's parliament on Wednesday adopted
the Resolution on Association with the European Union in which Serbia, as a
member of the state union of Serbia-Montenegro, declares its admission to the
EU and the NATO-led Partnership for Peace programme its strategic and national
objectives. In the 250-seat assembly, 129 MPs voted for the resolution, while
deputies of the Serb Radical Party and the Socialist Party, led by war crimes
indictees Vojislav Seselj and Slobodan Milosevic respectively, walked out of
the parliamentary hall during the vote.
Last week, these two opposition parties voiced disagreement with the
adoption of the document because it mentioned the Partnership for Peace
programme of the alliance which the parties criticised for air strikes against
the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1999.
