had not given himself up voluntarily at theweekend, as initially reported, but was detained after her office toldKostunica where he was.
LUXEMBOURG, Oct 11 (Hina) - The chief prosecutor of accused Balkan
war criminals said in Luxembourg on Monday that Bosnian Serb war crimes suspect
Ljubisa Beara had not given himself up voluntarily at the weekend, as
initially reported, but was detained after her office told Kostunica where he
was.She said her office had told Kostunica last Friday Beara's exact
address. Del Ponte added she did not regard Serbia's
arrest of Beara as "real cooperation".
"For me it is not a voluntary surrender," del Ponte said. "I don't think
Beara had a another choice," del Ponte told reporters in Luxembourg where she
presented EU foreign ministers with her report on the cooperation of former
Yugoslav countries with the ICTY.
The Council of the European Union once again called on Serbia and
Montenegro to respect its international obligations, including cooperation with
the ICTY
Del Ponte harshly criticised Republika Srpska which has not yet
extradited a single indictee.
