Gutting was interested in Croatia's judicial reform and extended Germany's assistance in bringing order into land books.
Minister Skare-Ozbolt acquainted Gutting with the state of organised crime in Croatia, the education of judges, the adjustment of Croatian laws to European standards, the reduction of backlog cases, and the use of CARDS programmes.
Gutting was also received by the state secretary for labour at the Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship Ministry, Vera Babic, who informed him about the economic reform in Croatia.
Gutting was also interested in refugee returns, property restitution, and the provision of housing to prewar tenancy rights holders.
The economy ministry recalled that Germany is Croatia's second largest trade partner and the second largest investor in Croatia. Trade in 2003 was US$3 billion and went up 20 percent in the first half of this year.
