ZAGREB, Sept 27 (Hina) - Justice Minister Vesna Skare Ozbolt travels to The Hague on Tuesday to attend an informal meeting of justice and interior ministers of European Union member states and candidate countries, the Justice Ministry announced in a statement on Monday.

The meeting is organised by the Netherlands as the chair of the EU rotating presidency, and this is the first time Croatia has been invited as a candidate for EU membership.

The meeting will be held on September 30 and October 1 in the Hague district of Scheveningen, and will focus on cooperation between police forces and judiciaries in exchanging information and combating terrorism, crisis management, strengthening Europol and Eurojust, development of a common asylum system and visa regime, and cooperation with nonmembers in migration control.

As announced by the protocol, the Dutch EU presidency will particularly welcome Croatia's joining in informal meetings of this type.

Skare Ozbolt is due to visit the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague on Wednesday, when she will meet Tribunal President Theodor Meron and Chief Prosecutor Carla del Ponte for talks on topical issues relating to Croatia's cooperation with the tribunal.

The justice minister will also visit indicted Croatian army generals Mladen Markac and Ivan Cermak, who are held in the tribunal's detention unit in Scheveningen. The two generals were recently denied a request for pre-trial release for the second time.
