The funds were provided as part of the Balkan Trust for Democracy programme for the implementation of the project "Citizens' Cooperation with Local Government".
"This is the first donation for a project of cross-border cooperation between the two cities and we expect it to strengthen our cooperation," said the head of the Subotica city government, Arpad Pap.
Efforts by the two cities to improve their relations received a boost at the beginning of September when mayors Zlatko Kramaric of Osijek and Geza Kucsera of Subotica signed a charter on good neighbourly relations and cooperation.
