ZAGREB, Oct 1 (Hina) - The director of the Croatian Information
Centre (HIC), Ante Beljo, held a lecture in the Zagreb-based Croatian Cultural
Foundation Thursday evening and said that "all indictments of the International
Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia against Croats from Croatia and
those against the Republic of Croatia for aggression in Bosnia have been issued
based on the testimony Croatian President Stjepan Mesic gave before the
tribunal".At a penal discussion Beljo said that in 1997 and 1998 Mesic gave
statements to the ICTY Prosecutor's Office which "charge Croatia with ethnic
cleansing of Serbs and aggression in Bosnia-Herzegovina". After such statements
were made, the ICTY stopped requesting documents from the Croatian Information
Centre, he said.
"After Mesic's testimony, they are no longer interested in Croatian
victims," Beljo said and added the ICTY was now only interested in crimes
against Serbs.
Beljo said attorney Cedo Prodanovic gave a similar testimony, All Serb
documents at our disposal, and we have been gathering them up until 2000, show
that no ethnic cleansing of Serbs had been committed in Croatia, Beljo said.
