reinforcements to the 18,000-strong Kosovo Force (KFOR) to ensure that local
elections in the UN-administered territory, set for October 6, pass peacefully.
The additional contingent of 880 Italian, 650 German and 400 French
troops will stay in Kosovo for a month, KFOR spokesman Yves Kermorvan said at a
press conference in Pristina on Wednesday.
The spokesman added that their presence in Kosovo would be a clear
message from NATO and the international community about their determination and
commitment to preserve the peace and stability in the province.
