Theolin offered the assistance of the Swedish Parliament in training Croatian MPs in parliament management and in conducting negotiations with the European Union, expressing his country's readiness to convey its experience in this area.
He acquainted his host with the Swedish model of conducting talks with the EU, saying that the Swedish Parliament had been involved at all levels of the negotiations in order to ensure consensus on all issues.
Thanking the Swedish ambassador for the offer of assistance, Seks said that Croatian Parliament committees were already looking into how the Sabor would be involved in monitoring the negotiating process and in determining negotiating platforms.
Seks also informed his guest about Croatia's position on its outstanding issues with Slovenia, which he said were inherited from the former Yugoslav federation of which both countries had once been members. He expressed confidence that all the issues would be resolved through dialogue and negotiation.
The Spanish ambassador conveyed the interest and desire of the Spanish Parliament to cooperate with the Croatian legislature.
Seks agreed with the need to encourage interparliamentary cooperation, particularly in view of the forthcoming talks between Croatia and the EU. He added that Spain's experience in that regard would be valuable, the statement said.
