At the end of his stay, Mesic met with representatives of the local Croat community, which has several hundred members, and at this meeting expressed his satisfaction with the results of the tour.
"The visit was completely successful. We have accomplished the goals we set before us, both in political and economic aspects," Mesic said.
"At all the talks we held in Poland we were assured that our economic cooperation would be enhanced. We also received assurances about the Polish maximum support to Croatia's efforts to join the EU and NATO as soon as possible," the Croatian head of state said.
Before meeting Croats in Warsaw, Mesic held talks with the head of the Polish parliament, Jozef Oleksy, on the situation in the region. The Sejm President will travel to Croatia next month for an official visit.
During his two-day stay in Poland, Croatian President visited Gdansk on Sunday, where he held informal talks with his Polish counterpart Alexander Kwasniewski. On Monday, the two presidents held formal talks in Warsaw, where Mesic also attended a Croatian-Polish business meeting.
