NEW YORK, Sept 23 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and his Canadian counterpart Paul Martin met on Wednesday to discuss bilateral relations, economic cooperation and the Canadian visa regime for Croatian citizens.

The two prime ministers met in New York on the margins of the ongoing UN General Assembly session.

Martin told Croatian reporters that the talks addressed the need to increase Canadian investments in Croatia as well as bilateral cooperation in international institutions.

Canada strongly supports Croatia and believes that the reforms implemented by its prime minister are very important, Martin said, adding that his country saw Croatia as a leader.

Asked about Canada's visa regime towards Croatian citizens, which obliges Croatian nationals filling in entry forms to provide data on their military service, Martin said that the two sides agreed to consider the issue.

"I believe that we agreed that we would consider the entire procedure, primarily the Canadian side," Sanader said.

Stressing their long-standing friendship, the two prime ministers invited one another to visit their respective countries and agreed that Sanader should pay an official visit to Canada first.

The Croatian PM said he was extremely pleased with the meeting and thanked Martin for his help to Croatia.
