The STA press agency said the latest incident prompted the parliament's committee on foreign affairs to convene for an extraordinary session on Thursday afternoon. Committee vice-chairman Zmago Jelincic suggested that the parliament, too, hold a special session despite the upcoming elections.
Members of the committee have already informed the public that the authorities had internationalised the case before the Council of Europe and expected the detained Slovenes to be released by tomorrow afternoon.
Most Slovene parliamentary parties expressed solidarity with Janez Podobnik, Ivan Bozic and other members of the Slovene People's Party who, according to the latest reports, are still at the Buje police station.
The Youth Party (SMS) condemned what it called "an election move" of the rival party, but it also criticised the conduct of the Croatian police.
