LJUBLJANA, Sept 11 (Hina) - Slovene Prime Minister Anton Rop has said
Croatia's refusal to sign a border agreement initialled in 2001 by the two
countries' then prime ministers was a historic mistake as the agreement
represented a well-balanced and "objectively optimal compromise".In an interview with Vecer daily of Saturday, Rop said Slovenia
supported Croatia's admission to the European Union but only if it met the same
terms Slovenia did.
Rop added that by refusing to sign the 2001 border agreement, which gave
Slovenia access to international waters, Croatia brought itself into a very
awkward position.
"Croatia has created a longterm problem and a series of conflicts while
resolving nothing," Rop was quoted in Vecer as saying.
