Gredelj, who was elected UHS president in December 1997, told Hina on the phone that his decision was not the result of any pressure.
Gredelj will continue his duties as UHS president until the appointment of a new president on 19 November.
Without going into details of his decision to step down, Gredelj said that his decision was also prompted by a request for disciplinary proceedings filed against him by Bjelovar County Court president Mladen Piskorec, who requested the State Judicial Council (DSV) to relieve Gredelj of his duties due to his poor performance as a judge.
Gredelj said he would request to be relieved of his duties as a judge after the DSV decided whether or not the request for disciplinary proceedings against him was founded.
