The three men, all from the northeastern town of Kumanovo, were abducted on August 23, but the news was broken only on Wednesday because other employees had been told to keep silent so as not to disturb the families of those kidnapped.
Dalibor Lazarevski, Dragan Markovic and Zoran Naskovski were kidnapped on their way to a US base 50 kilometres away from Bagdad. They were riding in a car along with two other company employees without military escort because they were told that militant groups attacked only soldiers.
The kidnappers released the two men and ordered the company to pay for the release of the three Macedonians.
The newspaper did not specify the amount of money demanded. It said that a representative of the US company would arrive in Kumanovo today to meet the families of the abducted men.
