Congratulating them on their great success, Sanader said those athletes were the pride of Split and Dalmatia.
The PM said he would propose at the government's session on Thursday that rewards for Olympic medal winners be increased by 30 percent, stressing that even though they deserved more, this was within Croatia's present financial possibilities.
Attending the reception were Olympic handball champions Ivano Balic, Petar Metlicic and Drago Vukovic, swimmer Duje Draganja, who won the silver medal in the men's 50-metre freestyle, brothers Sinisa and Niksa Skelin, who won the silver medal in the men's coxless pair, weight lifting bronze medal winner Nikolai Pashalov and tennis player Mario Ancic, who won the bronze in the men's doubles together with Ivan Ljubicic.
Also present at the reception were Sports, Science and Education Minister Dragan Primorac, Split County prefect Kruno Peronja, Split mayor Miroslav Bulicic, parliamentary deputies and athletes from Split.
