ZAGREB, Aug 10 (Hina) - The most senior state officials, headed by
President Stjepan Mesic and Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, on Tuesday saw off
Croatia's athletes participating at the Olympic Games in Athens on August
13-29.
"It is important to take part in the Olympic Games, but you will be
remembered by the number of medals you win," President Mesic told the athletes
at Zagreb's Sheraton hotel.
PM Sanader wished them to prove themselves as athletes and to be a model to
the youth, voicing confidence they would be enthusiastically welcomed back
from Greece.
Croatian Olympic Committee chairman Zlatko Matesa thanked Mesic and Sanader
for the support they had given the athletes during their preparations for
Athens.
Also present were Deputy PM Andrija Hebrang, Foreign Minister Miomir Zuzul
and Assistant Sports Minister Romana Caput Jogunica.
The Croatian Olympic delegation is departing Zagreb aboard a special flight
at 1950 hours.
