ZAGREB, Aug 30 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader met Bosnian political leaders in Zagreb on Monday for talks on economic cooperation between the two countries and the possibility of Croatian companies participating in Bosnia-Herzegovina's economic development.

The Bosnian delegation included Dragan Covic, the Croat member of the Presidency and vice-president of the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BH), HDZ BH President Barisa Colak and government ministers.

After the meeting, Sanader and Covic held a joint press conference.

"It is very important to us that the economy of Bosnia-Herzegovina receives strong support, because the country's biggest problem is socioeconomic stability," Covic said. He added that his country was trying to draw more investments through its friends in the world, including Croatia as its largest foreign trade partner.

"All processes that we plan to initiate over the next three to four years will be much slower without an economic impetus," Covic said. He said he was confident that Bosnia-Herzegovina had created quite liberal laws to stimulate investment, particularly in a dozen major projects in which leading Croatian companies already present in Bosnia-Herzegovina might become involved.

Sanader cited the Mostarsko Blato hydroelectric power plant as an attractive project under preparation.

Sanader announced that he would soon meet his Bosnian counterpart Adnan Terzic to discuss economic cooperation and infrastructure projects.

Sanader said that the talks also focused on the process of Croatia's integration with the European Union, which is also Bosnia-Herzegovina's goal. "The faster Croatia goes, the faster Bosnia-Herzegovina will go," he said.

Also under discussion were local elections that will take place in Bosnia-Herzegovina on October 2.

Sanader said that his government would provide logistical support to Bosnian Croats living in Croatia so that they can vote in the Bosnian local elections, just as it had for the previous elections.
