BELGRADE, Aug 31 (Hina) - Sixty per cent of adult Serbs are absolutely opposed to the extradition of any citizens of Serbia and Montenegro to the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague, according to the results of a survey by the Belgrade agency "Marten Board International" and the magazine "Nova srpska misao", which was presented on Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference in Belgrade, magazine editor Djordje Vukadinovic said that 19.2 per cent of citizens believed that persons indicted by the Hague tribunal should be handed over, 10.1 per cent were not sure about it, while 8.9 per cent were indifferent.

"It is interesting that there is nearly the same number of G17 Plus sympathisers who are absolutely against and those who are absolutely in favour of cooperation with the Hague tribunal," Vukadinovic said.

Supporters of the party led by businessman Bogoljub Karic are mainly against the extradition of Serbian citizens to The Hague, but the number of this party's voters who would cooperate with the tribunal is not negligible. A vast majority of the Radicals are against the tribunal, Kostunica's Democratic Party of Serbia is mainly undecided, while Tadic's Democratic Party can be described as a pro-tribunal party, he said.

The survey was conducted in August on a random sample of 1,424 adult respondents in Serbia excluding Kosovo.
