Mesic held a working meeting with a delegation of the Brcko District, Mayor Branko Damjanac, his deputy Ivan Krndelj and the chairman of the provisional assembly, Mirsad Djapo, who informed him about the situation in the district.
Later on Mesic met the international supervisor of Brcko, Susan Johnson.
Unofficial sources said that one of the topics discussed at the talks was the commercial potential of the Sava river waterway. District representatives told Mesic that a bathymetric survey of the river would start on September 1.
In the continuation of his visit, Mesic is scheduled to meet returnees in the village of Ulice in the Brcko District and visit the village of Spionica in the municipality of Srebrenik.
Later in the day the Croatian president will travel to Gradacac, about 25 kilometres east of Brcko, to meet the head of the Bosnian Presidency Sulejman Tihic and visit the premises of an international plum fair that takes place in Gradacac every year.
