Following recommendations from the European Union regarding the policy area No. 23 "Judiciary and Fundamental Rights", the action plan incorporates measures aimed at ensuring tangible progress in the employment of members of ethnic minorities in public administration and in local self-government units, as well as in the police and the judiciary.
At the start of the government session, Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor said that European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso's visit to Zagreb on Thursday put wind in Croatia's sails and encouraged efforts to bring the EU accession talks to completion.
"Since yesterday we are striding ahead more strongly," Kosor said commenting on Barroso's meetings with top Croatian officials.
She called for the continuation of committed efforts to do what remains to be done in the policy area no. 23 and the policy area No. 8, "Competition Policy".
Kosor reiterated that June remained the target deadline for closing the talks, as set by Croatia, the current Hungarian EU Presidency, and the European Parliament.
Those institutions have told us that this goal is attainable, the PM added.
